Karlene has over a decade of consulting experience, and has been working on the environmental aspects of development projects in the Sea to Sky since 2013. In addition to consulting, she has worked as an Environmental Coordinator for the District of Squamish, where she oversaw development and gained experience with policy, and as a Research Biologist for Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). She knows Squamish’s neighborhoods, watercourses and environmental policies inside and out.

Karlene is a Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) with a few too many letters behind her name. She holds a Masters of Natural Resources (M.N.R.) in Aquatic Science from Oregon State University, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biogeophysical Science from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Tourism Management (B.T.M.) with a double major in Nature-based Tourism Development and Entrepreneurship from Thompson Rivers University. She is a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP).

Karlene grew up sailing BC’s coastline, fishing, exploring tidal pools and collecting experiences that fueled her desire to learn more about the natural environment. Karlene has developed a diverse knowledge of geomorphic, hydrologic and biological sciences related to freshwater, riparian and forest ecology.

She is the Founder and Principal Consultant at Coastrange Environmental. She is the project manager, GIS mapper and the boots on the ground. Karlene is quick on her toes and happy to help. Feel free to send her an email or give her a call.
